Every client is different and unique. But by understanding their patterns it will be easy for you to deal with clients. Here are some types of clients whom you have to be dealing with.
You should familiar with the first-time client. This client who has never used a lawyer before or never used the kind of lawyers that they are using now. Everything will be new to them. You should explain everything in detailed to them. A number of hand-holding may also be needed for these clients.
Some of your clients may be angry or hostile. Anger will be mixed with aggression, rude will have a contrary behavior. You may become the recipient of misdirected anger during the period of the trial. This type of clients can create a tension headache. Aware of your client’s angry feelings and behave politely with them during the course of the litigation process.
Another type is revengeful or enthusiastic clients. For such clients price is not a consideration it is the matter of principles.
They had done something wrong. Now you have been selected as a way to correct it. If you had a high intelligence of idealism you are fit for this role and will be difficult to resist the alarm song that could trap you onto the pillars of unethical behavior. These clients will look for “eye for eye” justice.
The delayed or obsessed clients think about the case 24*7 hours. For such clients provide a legal file and holed punched copies of everything to put into it. If you don’t meet their expectations you not be paid or might be reported to the bar for leasing him down.
Another type is a frequent-flier client. This type of client always needs the services from a lawyer and had gone through the court system several times. The main thing to remember with these clients is that you are the lawyer and in charge, not them. Because often these clients will try commanding you and try telling you how to do your work.
The emotionally dependent or needy clients may seem emotionally delicate, insecure or unconfident and will dependent on others and now on you. Your role is to advise them about choices available to the client.
Sometimes your client seems to be secretive and hide information from you or might be told you incorrect facts. You can’t represent these clients.You will find difficult to deal with such clients.
There will be unwilling clients. These clients will not trust your advice because it may not match the advice which they expect. Clients usually come to lawyers to know the consequences of their actions which they already were taken or to decide to take. Many clients are just unwilling to follow or accept the advice from their lawyers.
Many other types of clients are also there including clients with mental issues or emotional issues etc. The point to be remembered is that the if lawyers can spot such clients earlier you could serve the clients efficiently.
